Non-Profit Rescue:
- Sante D’Or (Atwater Village) 🐈
- 501(c)(3) Adoption center with free visiting hours for guests to play and socialize with cats. No appointment needed. All cats are looking for their furever homes! Separate appointment needed for adoption.
- Visiting hours: Fri, Sat, and Sun 12-5
- Price: Free
- What are the deets on the cats???? There are 40+ cats at the center and MANY of them are playful and want cuddles and pets. The staff know each and every cat’s personality, and they will tell you if any cats are spicy or particular about how they play and interact.
2. Tail Town (Pasadena) 🐈
- 501(c)(3) Adoption center / partner of Kitten Rescue LA with paid visiting hours and events such as painting, yoga, pilates, game night with the 30-40 cats in the room. Appointment needed.
- Visiting hours: Fri, Sat, and Sun 11-5
- Price for visiting hours: $20 for 60-minutes to play, relax, work remotely with cats. Monthly membership for 2 guests and unlimited visits are available.
- Price for events: Varies. $20 per person for 1-hour yoga, pilates, or game events. $40 per person for 2-hour painting.
- What are the deets on the cats???? There are 30-40 cats at the center and they are all sweethearts and LOVE attention and people. I did one pilates class there, and there was a nonstop rotation of friendly cats hanging out on my yoga mat and playing with guests. The staff here are experts on each and every cat, and can tell you more about them if you’re interested in adopting.
Shopping:
- Catnip Coalition (Burbank) 🐈
- Vintage shop that sells cat-themed and non-cat-themed items. Has two shop cats and several adoptable cats.
- Hours: Daily 11-6
- What are the deets on the cats???? Has two friendly shop cats Franklin (fluffy cat) and Nigel (gray cat). If you don’t see them at first, look above you where they may be hiding on shelves and inside cat tents. Also has ~5 cats/kittens in the front of the store who are adoptable through NELA Cats.
2. Cool Cat Collective (Long Beach) 🐈
- Modern, trendy shop and art gallery where EVERYTHING is cat-themed. Showcases art and products from local and small artists. 20% of profits are donated to nonprofits improving the lives of animals. Has several adoptable cats you can play with.
- Hours: Wed-Sun 10-5
- What are the deets on the cats???? Has ~5 cats in store who are rescued by TippedEars and are adoptable! You can pet and play with them in their separate “catio” area before or after shopping. Ask staff to play with the cats and they will let you in one group at a time. Apply to adopt through their website.
3. Blue Rooster Art Supplies (Pasadena) 🐈
- Local art supply store with sketchbooks, canvases, paints, pens, planners, and colorful gift items. Has a friendly shop cat.
- Hours: Daily 10-6
- What are the deets on the cats??? The Pasadena location has a store cat named Lizard Bennett. She is friendly and so so cute. You can even buy handmade pins and stickers of Liz.
Bookstores:
- Iliad Bookshop (North Hollywood) 🐈
- Used bookstore with over 150,000 used books at low prices and two shop cats, Apollo and Zeus. Also accepts book donations and has been a filming site for many cool tv and movie projects. Has two friendly shop cats.
- Hours: Closed Sun-Mon. Open Tues-Sat 11-7
- What are the deets on the cats???? You will easily find Apollo (orange cat) and Zeus (gray cat) roaming around or sleeping near their staff humans. They are very friendly and accepting of pets and attention.
Food/Drink:
- Thank You Coffee (Chinatown and Anaheim)
- Coffee shop with cat-themed branding and gift items, some of which are cat-themed as well. Chinatown location is next door to Paper Plant, which is a stationery store with additional cat-themed and Japanese items.
- Hours: Daily 9-4
- What are the deets on the cats???? There are no live cats here.
2. Lenny the Community Cat (Glassell Park) 🐈
- Lenny is an outdoor cat outside of the Wellness Arts Collective. Sometimes he visits the neighboring businesses like the The Grant, which is a modern, cocktail bar next door. I highly recommend you pair a visit with Lenny with a visit to well-renowned Bub and Grandma’s for brunch/dinner and The Grant for drinks.
- Hours: Lenny lives outdoors so you can spot him at any time
- What are the deets on the cats???? This is all about Lenny, who deserves your love and attention. He is very friendly and accepting of pets.
3. 3Cat (San Gabriel, City of Industry, Chino Hills, Koreatown, Arcadia, Tustin, Milpitas)
- Boba shop with cat-themed branding, decor, and seasonal/limited edition cat items like Christmas cat box or gift bag. Has solid drinks. Order ahead because this place tends to be crowded. I’m a regular customer for the avocado mango and osmanthus oolong tea latte drinks.
- Hours: Daily 11-10
